Lok Sabha First Session Latest News: The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha began with uproar on Monday (24 June 2024). Even before the start of the session, the MPs of the India Alliance came out to protest with copies of the Constitution in their hands. The opposition MPs also raised a hue and cry against Prime Minister Modi.
Regarding this demonstration, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Yes and Amit Shah What they are doing to the Constitution is not acceptable to us. We will not let what they want happen, that is why we took a copy of the Constitution with us during the oath taking ceremony today.
‘No power can touch the constitution of India’
Rahul Gandhi did not stop here. He further said that no power can touch the Constitution of India. We will not allow any change in it. Apart from Rahul Gandhi, all the Congress MPs opposed the BJP government.
Mallikarjun Kharge also lashed out at PM Modi
Regarding the protest, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge said, “Narendra Modi Ji tried to break the Constitution, that is why today leaders of all parties have come together and are protesting. Wherever Gandhi’s statue was, it was removed. Baba Ambedkar’s statue was also removed. We are protesting there. They are breaking all democratic norms, so today we want to show that Modi Ji, you should move forward according to the Constitution.”
TMC raised questions on the appointment of Protem Speaker
TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee also cornered the BJP government on the issue of Protem Speaker. He said, “We are protesting because the provisions of the Constitution have been violated. The way the Protem Speaker has been appointed is a clear violation of the Constitutional provisions and also a clear violation of earlier precedents.”
